Polly Pockets and Hulla hoops

I LOVE Polly Pockets. I might even LOVE Polly Pockets more than most little girls. Why you might ask? Because Olivia is so entertained by them. She will play with ONE Polly Pocket for hours...literally. She will dress and undress that little Polly until the next morning. I LOVE Polly Pockets. So today she got her second, Lila. She had Polly from a previous trip to Grand Forks and told me Polly was lonely and needed a friend. I wish they made boy Polly Pocket dolls then I could have her and Gavin occupied.

So because they don't make boy Polly's, Gavin settled for a Hula Hoop...I love the progression of these stills better than a video. It is pretty funny watching him... side note: as I started posting these pictures I noticed the bins stacked with diapers and pull-ups and the beautiful and tasteful window curtain (big orange blanket) hanging in the background....If you would like tips on decorating just drop me a line...

Latest pics of Weston

Weston will be 4 weeks on Wed. I can't believe it...I took some pictures today (with Gavin's help) of Weston awake. His neck is so strong, as were all the rest of the kids. He was picking up his head on day 3. He's still a bit cross eyed..lol...and this week has been the week of baby acne...but it's not too bad. The color may seem different in some due to me adjusting the few pictures Gavin took. He was so close the flash made the colors crazy.

I take what I can get as far as cooperation in pictures. Olivia and Gavin both have their own ideas of cooperation. At least we are all in the picture, right?

Easter "Egg"stravaganza...

Saturday there was an Easter activity at the school. Originally I thought it was only an Easter egg hunt but it turned out to be a fun little activity with crafts and games. When we got there the kids made bunny ears and got their faces painted. We couldn't get Olivia to get her face painted until Kevin told her it was her bunny MAKEUP...she jumped right into the chair. Makeup, bras and nail polish are what she lives for. So then I thought we'd get a picture of the kids with the big bunny...Olivia didn't think this was a good idea as you can see from the picture.

That is as close as I could get her. Arms crossed and all... you can imagine how that conversation went...I just had her stand in the same approximate area and took what I could get....lol
Then the kids headed over to make bunny baskets. Payton did a great job on his own and my two turned out pretty great as well...lol. Good thing my craft skills can pass for a 3 & 5 year olds.

We got a picture of all 3 right before the egg hunt. Weston was being held hostage by Payton's teacher....she said that he would fit perfectly in her Easter basket...She might have to fight off the 3 older siblings for that little egg.

Finally by the end of the fun Olivia warmed up to the bunny and KEPT ON ASKING ME to take pictures of the bunny and her. Okay already....here is the ONE I kept.

Would you like to live in a bird house???

So the other day Olivia was in a mood...she would not listen for anything and kept being quite sassy. She was telling me I was a mean mom etc.... I finally said to her:

Mom: Olivia would you like to live somewhere else since you obviously don't like it here?
Olivia: Where mom?
Mom: I don't know, just somewhere else?
Olivia: Like a birdhouse?
Mom: (Trying hard not to laugh out loud) Sure Olivia, a like a birdhouse.
Olivia: I would not fit in the holes mom.
Mom: No you would not...so I guess you're here with me.

I just had to smile. She says the funniest things. She did say that if the holes were big enough she would like to have one she could go in....

Flooding Update

I had a few people wanting to know how we are doing with the flooding so I thought I'd update you all. We live about 65 miles north and 20 miles west of Grand Forks. The Red River runs though Pembina (where Kevin works) and is about 10 miles north and 20 miles east of us. The river crests in Pembina about a week after it crests in Grand Forks (or so I think if I understand right). So as of right now the river hasn't crested in GF. We will be fine so long as the levees in Pembina hold and the river doesn't come over the dikes. The problem is that the Red River flows north into Lake Winnipeg, which isn't thawed right now so the water is just in this holding pattern. Not really cool....I hope we don't flood, and chances are we will only get ground flooding, but....I just keep repeating the mantra...it is only stuff and it can be replaced. As long as we are all safe and healthy....that is all that matters. However, I do not look forward to a flood as a life challenge. I just had to put that out there! Other than that...the kids are getting feisty and ready for the summer...so am I. xoxo Kirsten
